Trail Etiquette

Trails are for all! Ride smart, respect the trail.

Stay on the Trail

Riding off the trails, taking shortcuts, or cutting corners, leads to “trail braiding” which turns beautiful singletrack into a dirt boulevard in addition to harming the wildlife that calls our trails home.

Leave No Trace

Absolutely stop and have a snack while taking in the view, but pack out everything you bring in, even if it’s “natural” (orange peels don’t naturally appear in our woods!). We’re proud of our trails, help us keep them clean.

If you leave a track, TURN BACK!

Riding in muddy conditions will destroy our trail system. Respect the volunteer work that maintains our trails, and DON’T RIDE MUD.

Ride Through, Not Around

It feels counterintuitive, but if there is a small damp section, ride through, not around. Riding around puddles leads to trail widening, and erosion.

Sharing the Trails

When you come across other trail users, slow down & speak up! Bikes typically move faster than feet, use your voice to warn other trial users of your intentions. Calling out “2 bikes on your right”, for example, keeps our trails kind.

Right of Way

Right-of-way Bikers stop for hikers/runners/walkers/anyone on foot Downhill stops for uphill.
